Gaming is more popular than ever, and Singularity 6 is on a mission to create an entirely new gaming experience built on meaningful community. This gaming company wants to make sure that they build games where community and connection is the key focus.

La TechWatch spoke with cofounder Aidan Karabaich about creating a gaming culture hub.

Who were your investors and how much did you raise?

This was a seed round that was led by London Venture Partners (LVP), a leading venture capital fund focused on the games space. Their $2.5M investment is the largest early-stage funding in their history, which includes investments in companies like Supercell (creators of Clash of Clans and Clash Royale), Unity Technologies (the 3D engine used in thousands of games), NaturalMotion (which sold to Zynga) and Playfish (purchased by Electronic Arts).

Tell us about the product or service Singularity 6 offers.

At Singularity 6, we’re working on creating an online gaming world that delivers much more than superficial entertainment or wish fulfillment. We see games as a primary source of community for players, as meaningful to their lives as a church community or being a part of a sports team. We’re looking forward to working with some of the best talent in the industry to help bring this vision to life.

What inspired you to start Singularity 6?

When Anthony and I first started talking about pursuing this venture, we quickly found that we had a shared vision for the future of games. One in which games are looked at as viable sources of real, meaningful community and social connection. We know games have this capability, we’re here to build games that have community as a key focus for why they exist.

What advice can you offer companies in Los Angeles that do not have a fresh injection of capital in the bank?

Know your audience. What are they looking for? What do they care about? Just as important, what don’t they care about or what are the red flags they are hoping not to see? Keep it focused!

What is your favorite restaurant in LA?

Gjelina comes to mind, but we also love Feu Pho Kitchen.
