With so much going on in the thriving LA tech and startup ecosystem, it is easy to miss some of the news in the space. We keep you abreast of the things that you may have missed in LA Tech news for the week ending 4/1 featuring news for PrivacyHawk, SoundMind, and much, much more.


Wellth – $20M

Wellth, a healthtech platform that focuses on emphasizing medication adherence through behavioral economics, has raised $20M in Series B funding from investors that include SignalFire, Partnership Fund for New York City, Yabeo Capital, The Social Entrepreneurs Fund (TSEF), CD-Venture, Beyond Capital, and Frank Williams. Founded by Alec Zopf and Matthew Loper in 2014, Wellth has now raised a total of $39.1M in reported equity funding.


FedML – $6M

FedML, an open source library for federated machine learning, has raised $6M in venture funding from investors that include Acequia Capital (AceCap), LDV Partners, Plug N Play Ventures, Camford Capital, and Aimtop Ventures. FedML was founded by Chaoyang He and Salman Avestimehr in 2020.

Gori, a stealth startup, has raised $6M in funding according to a recent SEC filing. The filing does not include a total offering but does indicate there were four investors. Gori was founded by Sky Kim, Jude Kim, and Hyunjoon Kim in 2021.


SoundMind – $2.3M

SoundMind, a music therapy platform, has raised $2.3M in Seed funding from investors that include Gaingels and Venus Nicolino. Founded by Brian Femminella and Travis Chen in 2020, SoundMind has now raised a total of $3.1M in reported equity funding.


Electric Monster – $2.05M

Electric Monster, a digital media brand and holding company focused on video, has raised $2.05M in funding according to a recent SEC filing. The filing indicates that the total offeirng is for $2,.5M and this close comes from fifteen investors. Electric Monster was founded by Matt Gielen and Paul Hanson in 2020.

Mansa – $2M

Mansa, a streaming platform for Black culture, has raised $2M in funding according to a recent SEC filing. The filing indicates that the total offeirng is for $1M and this close comes from a sole investor. Founded by Zak Tanjeloff and Nate Parker in 2021, Mansa has now raised a total of $6.4M in reported equity funding.


PrivacyHawk – $1.6M

PrivacyHawk, a personal data management platform to protect privacy, has raised $1.6M in funding according to a recent SEC filing. The filing indicates that the total offering is for $2M and there were six investors in this close. Founded by Aaron Mendes and Justin Wright in 2021, PrivacyHawk has now raised a total of $2.7M in reported equity funding.
