With so much going on in the thriving LA tech and startup ecosystem, it is easy to miss some of the news in the space. We keep you abreast of the things that you may have missed in LA Tech news for the week ending 3/18 featuring news for Fount, Metalink, K2 Space, and much, much more.


SpectrumAi – $20M

SpectrumAi, an autism care platform, has raised $20M in Series A funding from investors that include F-Prime Capital, Frist Cressey Ventures, Autism Impact Fund, CVS Health, and Cobalt Ventures. Founded by Chris Storer, and Ling Shao in 2021, SpectrumAi has now raised a total of $29M in reported equity funding.


Fount – $12M

Fount, a fitness performance and health coaching platform, has raised $12M in Series A funding from investors that include Allen & Company, Elysian Park Ventures, Amity Ventures, Not Boring Capital, and Champion Hill Ventures. Fount was founded by Andrew Herr in 2019.


SlamBall – $11M

SlamBall, a sports league focused on a form of basketball using trampolines that was popularized in the late 90s and now making a comeback, has raised $11M in funding according to a recent SEC filing. The filing indicates that the round comes from sixteen investors. SlamBall was founded by Mason Gordon in 1999.

K2 Space Corporation, a spacetech startup focused on making space exploration more accessible starting with the satellite bus, has raised $8.5M in funding according to a recent SEC filing. The filing indicates that the round comes from forty-eight investors. K2 Space Corporation was founded by Karan Kunjur and Neel Kunjur in 2022.


Frontier Aerospace – $7.5M

Frontier Aerospace, a spacetech startup focused on launch system rocket propulsion, has raised $7.5M in funding according to a recent SEC filing. The filing indicates that the total offering is for $10M and that this close comes from two investors. Founded by Jim McKinnon in 1997, Frontier Aerospace has now raised a total of $12.5M in reported equity funding.


Gambit Defense – $6.5M

Gambit Defense, a newly-founded stealth startup founded by the former CEO and cofounder of Hyperloop, has raised $6.5M in funding according to a recent SEC filing. The filing indicates that the round comes from two investors and lists Greg Reichow of Eclipse Ventures as a Director. Gambit Defense was founded by Joshua Giegel in 2023.

Metalink – $6M

Meta Link, a private chat app for NFT holders, has raised $6M in Seed funding from investors that include Social Capital, Sound Ventures, Balaji Srinivasan, Gary Vaynerchuk, Sebastien Borget, Gemini Frontier Fund, Guy Oseary, Justin David Blau, Arrington Capital, Baller ventures, Ivan Soto Wright, and Humans ventures. Founded by Jake Udell, Metalink has now raised a total of $6.3M in reported equity funding.


Verses – $1.2M

Verses, a spatial intelligence management platform, has raised $1.2M in funding according to a recent SEC filing. The filing indicates that this round comes from five investors. Founded by Capm Petersen, Dan Mapes, Gabriel Rene, and Steven Swanson in 2017, Verses has now raised a total of $13.1M in reported equity funding.


Issuance – $260K

Issuance, an online investment platform, has raised $260K in funding according to a recent SEC filing. The filing indicates that the total offering is for $5M and there were four investors in this close. Issuance was founded by Aaron Mendez in 2018.


DedCool – $1.75M

DedCool, a direct-to-consumer scented cosmetics and bodycare brand, has raised $1.75M in funding according to a recent SEC filing. The filing indicates that the round comes from three investors. DedCool was founded by Carina Chaz in 2016.
