Analyzing some publicly available data from our friends at <a href="https://crunchbase.com">CrunchBase</a>, we break down the national aggregate statistics for all funding deals by stage of funding (Angel/Seed, Series A, Series B, and Series C+, as well as non-specified venture rounds <$10M). <p style="text-align: center;"><strong><a href="https://www.latechwatch.com/2016/06/may-2016-la-us-venture-capital-angel-funding-report/2/">CLICK HERE TO SEE THE FULL REPORT</a></strong></p> <p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Quick analysis:</strong></p> <p style="text-align: left;">It was a very robust and active month for Los Angeles startup funding during the month of May. While much of the activity is revolved around Snapchat's mega $1.8B financing, taking that out of the equation still yielded over $425 million in funding for LA-based startups. Over 1/3 of funding in the US went to Los Angeles startups in the month of May and this is the largest dollar amount that we've seen.</p> <p style="text-align: left;"></p> <!--nextpage--> <p style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.latechwatch.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/LA-TechWatch-May-2016-and-US-Venture-Capital-Angel-Investment-Report.003.jpeg" rel="attachment wp-att-5564"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-5564" src="https://www.latechwatch.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/LA-TechWatch-May-2016-and-US-Venture-Capital-Angel-Investment-Report.003.jpeg" alt="LA TechWatch May 2016 and US Venture Capital & Angel Investment Report.003" /></a></p> <strong>For your tweeting convenience: </strong> Average Angel/Seed round in LA for May was $1.2M <a href="https://ctt.ec/i6Okn">Tweet this</a> $4.6M was invested across early stages rounds in LA in May <a href="https://ctt.ec/7dPn9">Tweet this</a> Average Angel/Seed round in the US for May was $2.2M <a href="https://ctt.ec/ed7c_">Tweet this</a> $214M was invested across early stages rounds in the US in May <a href="https://ctt.ec/JfDz3">Tweet this</a> 2.1% of early stage funding nationally went to startups in LA in May <a href="https://ctt.ec/x8akD">Tweet this</a> <strong> </strong><!--nextpage--> <p style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.latechwatch.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/LA-TechWatch-May-2016-and-US-Venture-Capital-Angel-Investment-Report.004.jpeg" rel="attachment wp-att-5565"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-5565" src="https://www.latechwatch.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/LA-TechWatch-May-2016-and-US-Venture-Capital-Angel-Investment-Report.004.jpeg" alt="LA TechWatch May 2016 and US Venture Capital & Angel Investment Report.004" /></a></p> <strong>For your tweeting convenience:</strong> Average Series A round in LA for May was $7.2M<a href="https://ctt.ec/3c4nX"> Tweet this</a> $21.5M was invested across Series A rounds in LA in May<a href="https://ctt.ec/733y9"> Tweet this</a> Average Series A round in the US for May was $9.3M <a href="https://ctt.ec/NbIes">Tweet this</a> $698M was invested across Series A rounds in the US in May <a href="https://ctt.ec/2dW7e">Tweet this</a> 3.1% of Series A funding nationally went to startups in LA in May <a href="https://ctt.ec/12ogy">Tweet this</a> <!--nextpage--> <p style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.latechwatch.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/LA-TechWatch-May-2016-and-US-Venture-Capital-Angel-Investment-Report.005.jpeg" rel="attachment wp-att-5566"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-5566" src="https://www.latechwatch.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/LA-TechWatch-May-2016-and-US-Venture-Capital-Angel-Investment-Report.005.jpeg" alt="LA TechWatch May 2016 and US Venture Capital & Angel Investment Report.005" /></a></p> <strong>For your tweeting convenience:</strong> Average Series B round in LA for May was $40.8M <a href="https://ctt.ec/8QhFf">Tweet this</a> $122.5M was invested across Series B rounds in LA in May <a href="https://ctt.ec/OcgtC">Tweet this</a> Average Series B round in the US for May was $16.1M<a href="https://ctt.ec/TpxM1"> Tweet this</a> $564M was invested across Series B rounds in the US in May<a href="https://ctt.ec/15f_7"> Tweet this</a> 21.72% of Series B funding nationally went to startups in LA in May <a href="https://ctt.ec/UrEIm">Tweet this</a> <strong>Quick Note:</strong> These figures are largely impacted by Hyperloop's $80M round.
